Esteemed letterer, designer, writer and speaker, Ryan Hamrick made this limited edition letterpress print for his “Progressing Backwards” talk at this month’s CreativeMornings/Pittsburgh event.

Ryan is self-taught, and encourages others to take the initiative in teaching themselves the skills they want to learn. He keeps a current portfolio at ryanhamrick.com and also a sketch portfolio at hamrick.dunked.com.

This May, Seth Godin swept the audience off their feet earlier this month as he spoke on the monthly theme, “Backwards,” about a few things that we have backwards in terms of the work we do versus the work we’d like to be doing. An excellent watch for anyone with goals, ambitions, hopes, or dreams and is wondering how to pursue them.

And once you’re done consuming that, check out the Q&A, which is just riddled with truth bombs that will leave you beyond inspired to take on the world.

The event was hosted by The New School as part of Parsons Festival 2013. Big high five goes out to Ben Hallman for filming and editing, and that tongue-in-cheek intro perfectly aligned with the theme.

Woohoo! The moment you have all been waiting for.. the very first CreativeMornings/Austin talk is now live online!

The speaker is none other than Austin Kleon, the force behind Steal Like an Artist and Newspaper Blackout. Austin speaks on April’s theme of the future, by attempting to set the ground rules for future discussions between artists and designers—in terms of how we discuss our work and process.

“I think we’re living in this mass fetishization of creativity,” he says. “And you can tell that from the way we use ‘creative’ as a noun.” He goes on to breakdown some of his previous advice: Do Good Work and Share It With People, on what is good, what is work, and how we should share.
